The Clan

The Kern County Scottish Society brings a wee bit of Scotland to Central California through education, cultural preservation, community events, and fellowship.


Founded in Bakersfield in 1971, the Society works to preserve and celebrate Scottish heritage, language, history, music, dance, and traditions for future generations. Members and visitors can experience Scottish culture through Highland Games and gatherings, Robert Burns celebrations, piping, Highland dance, Scottish Gaelic, Celtic music, educational programs, and community activities.


You do not have to be Scottish to participate. The Society welcomes anyone with an interest in Scotland and its culture and provides opportunities for people of all ages to learn, connect, volunteer, and celebrate together.
