About Mariposa Ukulele Ensemble

The Mariposa Ukulele Ensemble began as a small group of about seven people interested in learning to play ukulele and grew over the years into a larger community ensemble. Under the leadership of Gail Dreifus, the group expanded to include approximately 25 musicians and a broader mix of instruments, including upright bass, harmonica, drums, bass ukulele, banjolele, and featured vocalists. The ensemble meets regularly to rehearse, learn, and enjoy music together. The Mariposa Arts Council describes the program as a free community offering that provides professional instruction, access to instruments, and opportunities for social connection through music and creativity. Their performances throughout Mariposa and neighboring counties reflect what the group is really about: community, participation, creativity, and the simple joy of making music together.
