About Whisky Tasting at Yosemite Celtic Festival with Dan McCleskey
Whisky has been woven into the cultural traditions of Scotland and Ireland for centuries. What began as a practical way to preserve and transform grain eventually developed into a celebrated craft shaped by regional ingredients, local water sources, aging techniques, and generations of distilling knowledge. Over time, whisky became more than a spirit — it became part of hospitality, celebration, storytelling, and community.
At the Yosemite Celtic Festival, the Whisky Tasting experience offers guests an opportunity to explore that tradition through a curated selection of whiskies, each with its own character, heritage, and flavor profile. Guided by knowledgeable hosts, participants can learn how aroma, aging, grain, cask choice, and regional style influence what appears in the glass.
Whether you are already familiar with whisky or tasting it with a more curious eye for the first time, the experience is designed to be approachable, educational, and social. Guests are encouraged to sip slowly, compare flavors, ask questions, and enjoy the stories behind each dram.
Each participant also receives a commemorative tasting glass to take home as a keepsake from the experience. Proceeds from the tasting benefit Yosemite High School sports programs, making each toast part of something larger than the glass itself.
